Peter Obi Unhappy Over Leadership Dispute in OK Movement, Says Kwankwaso’s Spokesman

A spokesman for Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Ladipo Johnson, has disclosed that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is unhappy over the ongoing leadership dispute within the OK Movement.

Johnson made the disclosure during an interview on Arise Television, where he acknowledged that internal tensions had emerged within the political movement but described them as a temporary distraction rather than a crisis.

According to him, the disagreement comes at a critical time when supporters should be focused on strengthening the movement’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the dispute arose from differences between some members and the leadership of the movement, warning that unilateral actions capable of creating divisions among supporters could undermine efforts to build a formidable political platform.

“Yes, we have, may I call it a distraction at the moment. It is not such, in my own humble opinion, that would lead you to take unilateral actions that could possibly scuttle or bring bad blood within the support base of the person you purportedly want to become the president of the country,” Johnson said.

He stressed that preserving unity within the movement remains essential to achieving its political objectives.

Johnson also revealed that Peter Obi had been informed about the disagreement and was dissatisfied with the developments.

“I saw the presidential candidate last night along with the DG. He’s not happy about the whole situation,” he added.

The comments come amid discussions surrounding the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso political alliance, which has attracted significant attention ahead of the 2027 elections.

Neither Peter Obi nor the leadership of the OK Movement had publicly commented on the reported dispute as of the time of filing this report.
