Controversial Nigerian entertainer DJ Chicken has reportedly been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force following a viral video in which he allegedly threatened the life of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The arrest comes days after the social media personality sparked widespread reactions with comments about the 2027 presidential election, during which he claimed President Tinubu would not secure re-election and allegedly vowed to kill Seyi Tinubu if the President emerged victorious.
Rumours of DJ Chicken’s arrest began circulating on social media shortly after the video went viral. The speculation was later reinforced on Thursday night when content creator Tunde Perry addressed the development during a livestream.
Perry claimed the entertainer’s remarks drew the attention of individuals close to the Presidency, leading to his arrest. He, however, stated that neither President Tinubu nor his son personally initiated the action.
“DJ Chicken did a video that Tinubu can’t win the next election. Knowing fully well that Tinubu is the only Yoruba man contesting for the next presidential election in 2027. And said even if Tinubu wins, he will kill Seyi Tinubu. The president and his son are not responsible for his arrest but those close to the presidency did,” Perry said during the livestream.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or outlining any charges against DJ Chicken.
The incident has generated widespread debate online, with many social media users calling for restraint in political discourse and warning against statements perceived as threats to public figures or their families.
