Police Report Operations Across 10 States, Rescue Seven Victims

The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operational successes across 10 states, including the rescue of seven victims, the arrest of suspected terrorists, kidnappers and murder suspects, and the neutralisation of a suspected bandit.

The Force disclosed this in its state-by-state executive summary of operations carried out between September 21 and 22, 2026, released on its X handle on Wednesday.

In Benue State, police operatives, supported by joint tactical forces, responded to an armed bandit attack at Abeda Market in Logo Local Government Area on September 22.

The police said one suspected bandit was neutralised during the operation, while two others were arrested. No casualty was recorded among the police personnel, while investigations continued at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi.

In Katsina State, operatives foiled an attack on a vehicle carrying six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma along the Kankara-Dutsin-Ma Road. The police said the attackers were repelled and fled into the bush with gunshot injuries, while all seven occupants of the vehicle were rescued unhurt, medically assessed and reunited with the relevant authorities.

The Katsina Command also arrested three suspects allegedly linked to an armed bandit syndicate after foiling an attempted escape.

In Anambra State, police arrested four suspected members of an outlawed terrorist group during patrol operations in Okija Community. The Force said the suspects allegedly admitted membership of the group and provided information about its activities. Three other suspects were arrested in connection with the death of a 34-year-old man at Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area.

Other operations were recorded in Nasarawa, Delta, Cross River, Oyo and Ogun states. In Nasarawa, a suspected kidnapper taken into police custody after a citizens’ arrest allegedly confessed to involvement in several kidnapping incidents. Delta operatives also re-arrested a suspect and recovered a locally made cut-to-size firearm and a live cartridge.

In Cross River, detectives arrested a principal suspect in connection with the suspected murder of a 22-year-old woman, while Oyo police arrested a suspect linked to the death of a 30-year-old man in Iwere-Ile. In Ogun, detectives arrested a suspect over an alleged defilement case and took the victim to a medical facility for examination.

The Force said investigations into the various cases were being handled by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, with efforts continuing to apprehend fleeing suspects and establish the circumstances surrounding the reported offences.
