Former Imo State Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere has visited the office of OtownGist Media in Owerri, where he interacted with members of the media team and discussed the role of digital media in political communication ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Madumere, who previously served as Chief of Staff and Deputy Governor of Imo State, used the visit to share his political journey, public service experience and perspective on the political developments that shaped the state. He also reflected on his role in the coalition that, according to him, helped prevent political power in Imo State from becoming concentrated in the hands of one individual.

The former deputy governor, who is seeking election to represent Owerri Zone in the Senate, spoke about his political aspirations and the importance of engaging citizens through effective communication. His visit provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on political leadership, public engagement and the growing influence of digital media in shaping public conversations.

Madumere commended OtownGist Media for its facilities, the work of its team and its contribution to the media space. He expressed interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration in digital media production and strategy as political activities build towards the 2027 general elections. He also expressed satisfaction at finally meeting the people behind the news platform and learning more about its operations.

Welcoming the former deputy governor, OtownGist founder Chinedu Hardy Nwadike thanked him for the visit and the opportunity to engage with the organisation. Nwadike said OtownGist was strategically positioned to support communication initiatives designed to amplify Madumere’s narratives, communicate his political aspirations and give greater visibility to his public engagement.

The meeting highlighted the growing importance of digital platforms in political communication, particularly as aspirants and political organisations prepare to engage voters ahead of the next general elections. Digital media can provide channels for candidates to explain their positions, communicate policy priorities and interact with citizens, while also giving audiences opportunities to assess their records and proposals.

Madumere’s visit marks an engagement between the former deputy governor and the OtownGist team as both sides consider possible areas of cooperation. Any future collaboration would build on discussions around digital content, media strategy and political communication in the lead-up to 2027.
