The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, marking a fresh adjustment in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet structure.
His confirmation was concluded on Thursday following a screening session at the National Assembly, where lawmakers assessed his credentials and suitability for the role.
Darma was nominated by President Tinubu on Wednesday to replace the outgoing Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, setting the stage for his formal entry into the Federal Executive Council.
During plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the presidential communication announcing the nomination and subsequently referred it to the Committee of the Whole for legislative consideration and approval.
After the screening process, the Senate moved to confirm Darma, completing the constitutional requirement for his appointment as a federal minister.
Before his nomination, Darma served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), where he was involved in policy and capacity development within the oil and gas sector.
His appointment is expected to reinforce ongoing reforms in the housing and urban development sector, which remains a key priority area for the current administration.
The change comes amid broader efforts by the federal government to reposition key ministries for improved service delivery and infrastructure development across the country.
