Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has shut the door on any possibility of reconciliation with Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, saying their long-running dispute is permanent and cannot be resolved.
The clash between both artists dates back to a heated exchange over comments linked to Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, which sparked backlash across Nigeria’s music scene and divided fans online.
Seun Kuti’s latest remarks came during a podcast appearance where he was directly asked whether he had settled his differences with Wizkid.
He made it clear there is no reconciliation in sight, insisting the matter is beyond repair.
“It is on for life. I don’t have anything to say about him but it is on for life,” he said. “You don’t say things about my dad and then it is fine. There is no coming back from that.”
The dispute initially escalated after Wizkid reacted to comparisons between himself and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, a comment that Seun Kuti publicly challenged at the time.
What followed was a public fallout that has lingered, resurfacing occasionally through interviews, social media exchanges, and fan debates.
Seun Kuti’s latest statement reinforces the depth of the rift, signaling that the disagreement is rooted not just in music rivalry but in personal and family respect.
Wizkid, known for his global Afrobeats success, has not publicly responded to the latest comments.
The feud continues to be one of the most talked-about celebrity disputes in Nigeria’s entertainment space, reflecting the growing tensions between Afrobeats’ new generation and its Afrobeat legacy.
