TCN Begins Transformer Maintenance, Announces Power Disruption in Sagamu

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced scheduled annual preventive maintenance on two power transformers at its Sagamu Transmission Substation in Ogun State.

The maintenance exercise began on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will continue on Friday, September 4, with work scheduled to run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.

TCN disclosed this in a statement issued by its management on Thursday, explaining that the exercise involves routine maintenance of the T1 and T2 30MVA, 132/33kV power transformers.

According to the company, the maintenance is necessary to ensure the transformers maintain optimal performance, reliability and operational efficiency.

TCN said the exercise would temporarily affect electricity supply to some customers within the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) franchise area.

Customers supplied through the T1 transformer, including consumers in REAL and Sagamu, have been affected by the maintenance exercise.

The company added that customers supplied through the T2 transformer, including CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock, will experience a temporary interruption in electricity supply on Friday, September 4, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

TCN explained that the temporary disruption is required to allow its maintenance crew to conduct routine checks and other preventive work on the transformers.

The company assured affected consumers that the exercise is aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply in the areas served by the substation.

TCN apologised to electricity consumers for any inconvenience the temporary interruption may cause and said the maintenance would support more dependable power infrastructure in the affected areas.
