Tinubu Ends Working Vacation, Departs Paris for Nigeria Ahead of Independence Day Events

President Bola Tinubu has concluded his working vacation and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos later on Tuesday.

The President is heading to Lagos to honour the memory of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, widely regarded as a symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.

Tinubu is scheduled to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola, the winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, on Independence Day at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.

During his stay in Lagos, the President is also expected to hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation. He spent a week in London before travelling to Paris, where he held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The President also met with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.

On Monday, Tinubu met with Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings.

Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.

DP World, a global ports and logistics operator, plans to invest $7 billion in the proposed seaport and economic zone.

Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
