The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has appointed Alhaji Onsachi Musa Idris as Senior Special Assistant on Procurement in a move aimed at strengthening oversight within the FCT Administration.
The appointment was announced shortly after Idris officially retired from the civil service on April 24, 2026. The announcement was contained in a statement signed by G. Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media.
Before his retirement, Idris served as Director of Procurement at the Federal Capital Territory Administration, a role he assumed in July 2021. He previously held the position of Director of Common Services (Procurement) from August 2019.
The statement described Idris as a seasoned administrator with more than 30 years of experience in public service, particularly in finance, administration, and procurement management.
During his tenure, he was responsible for supervising procurement operations across key departments and ensuring compliance with government regulations guiding public contracts and spending.
Officials say his long service record and institutional knowledge were key factors behind his immediate reappointment into a senior advisory role within the FCT system.
The statement confirmed that the appointment takes immediate effect, signalling the minister’s intention to retain experienced personnel in critical governance areas.
The move is expected to support ongoing reforms in procurement processes within the FCT Administration, an area often under scrutiny due to its role in public spending efficiency and accountability.
