Wike Supports Tinubu, Not APC, Oshiomhole Says

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has said FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election but is not supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political party.

Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, made the clarification on Tuesday during an interview with TVC.

His comments came amid a disagreement between Wike and some APC governors over the minister’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike has repeatedly maintained that his support is specifically for Tinubu’s re-election and not for the APC, stressing that his cross-party mobilisation is separate from the ruling party.

Oshiomhole said there was no contradiction between Wike’s position and that of APC governors who are also supporting Tinubu’s re-election.

“Wike is supporting President Tinubu and not the APC. The position of some of the APC governors and that of the minister is that they are both unanimous. They are all committed to supporting the re-election of President Tinubu.”

The former Edo State governor said he was comfortable with the fact that both sides were working towards the same objective — supporting Tinubu.

“I have not heard any side of the argument suggesting that anyone, including the FCT Minister, is opposed to President Tinubu’s re-election,” Oshiomhole said.

He added that Wike had repeatedly made it clear that he was not an APC member but supported the President.

The disagreement has intensified in recent weeks, particularly over Wike’s “Rainbow Coalition”, which he describes as a cross-party platform mobilising support for Tinubu. APC-linked groups have, however, stressed that the coalition is not an APC structure.
