A group of All Progressives Congress chieftains operating under the aegis of the APC Solidarity Group has petitioned the party’s National Working Committee over alleged anti-party activities by former Benue State Chairman, Austin Agada.

The group is asking the APC NWC, through the office of the National Chairman, to investigate and sanction Agada over his alleged support for opposition candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a petition dated October 2, 2026, and signed by the group’s National Organising Secretary, Sa’idu Muhammad, the petitioners accused Agada of publicly opposing APC candidates in Benue South Senatorial District, also known as Zone C.

The document was titled “Petition against anti-party activities, public opposition to the APC governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates in Benue South Senatorial District, Zone C of Benue State: A conduct prejudicial to the interest of the APC at large.”

The group specifically called on the NWC to establish an investigative committee to examine the allegations and invite Agada to appear before it.

It further requested that a disciplinary committee be constituted if the allegations are established and that any sanctions imposed be made public as a deterrent to other party members.

According to the petitioners, Agada, who they described as a leader of a faction of the APC in Benue State associated with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, allegedly endorsed Peoples Democratic Party Senator Abba Moro for the 2027 senatorial election.

The group claimed that the alleged cross-party endorsement was publicly displayed through campaign banners bearing the names and images of President Bola Tinubu of the APC and Senator Abba Moro of the PDP.

The petitioners argued that such conduct amounted to opposition to the APC’s candidates and was prejudicial to the interests of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.

They therefore urged the APC leadership to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action if Agada is found to have violated the party’s rules.

The petition comes as political activities and internal realignments intensify within major political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

No response from Agada regarding the allegations contained in the petition was included in the report.
