2027: Tinubu’s Opposition Votes Will Be Insignificant, Masari Assures President

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure significantly more votes than opposition parties in the 2027 presidential election.

Masari gave the assurance on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, where he pledged to mobilise massive support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He said the combined votes of opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would be insignificant compared with what the APC campaign council intends to deliver.

“The combined votes secured by opposition parties would not be commensurate with what the council intends to deliver,” Masari told the President.

Describing the campaign assignment as a serious responsibility, he urged council members to prioritise grassroots mobilisation, party discipline and measurable results.

Masari called on members to take the campaign beyond meetings and reach voters at polling units, electoral wards, local government areas and communities across the country.

He warned against excessive meetings, exaggerated electoral projections and promises that could not be backed by verifiable grassroots support.

According to him, the performance of the campaign council would be assessed based on implementation and its ability to translate political influence into tangible electoral gains.

Masari also urged members to avoid internal disputes, inflammatory statements and personal disagreements that could undermine the campaign. He called on the council’s Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to ensure unity, effective coordination and consistent communication among members.

He further stressed the need for the campaign to communicate the administration’s policies and commitments on fiscal restructuring, education, healthcare and infrastructure development.

Masari said the council should address Nigerians’ concerns with evidence-based information while promoting issue-based political engagement.

He also urged political organisations to comply with electoral regulations, counter misinformation and focus their campaigns on substantive policy issues.

The presidential aide appealed to Nigerians to critically assess campaign promises and participate constructively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general election.
