Trump Jokes He Could Move to Israel and Become Prime Minister if Americans Get Tired of Him
United States President Donald Trump has joked that he could relocate to Israel and become the country’s prime minister if Americans eventually get tired of his leadership.
Trump made the remark on Tuesday during an interview with Fox News, as Americans went to the polls for the US midterm elections.
Speaking about the relationship between the United States and Israel, the president claimed he enjoyed a 99 per cent approval rating among Israelis.
“My approval rating in Israel is 99 per cent. If people in the United States get fed up with me, I’ll move to Israel and become prime minister,” he said.
Trump also disclosed that the United States would stop providing Israel with its annual $4 billion aid package from 2027, following an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the US president, Israel no longer needs the financial assistance but would continue purchasing weapons from the United States.
Trump’s comments come amid continued discussions over Washington’s financial and military relationship with Israel.
The president has previously made a similar remark about relocating to Israel and becoming its prime minister. He reportedly made the same joke in May 2026
