A senior All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Ibrahim Osinowo, has publicly condemned presidential aide Daniel Bwala, insisting that he does not speak for the Nigerian government.
Speaking on News Central Television on Monday, Osinowo clarified that Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, remains the official spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Osinowo said Bwala, who serves as a policy adviser, is not authorized to convey official government positions. “Bayo Onanuga is the spokesperson of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Daniel is not the spokesperson; he is a policy person. Those policies are still meant to be signed off by Bayo Onanuga,” he stated.
The APC chieftain further alleged that Bwala’s recent international appearances were designed to rehabilitate his public image, describing him as a “stanch liar and image destroyer.”
“Daniel does not go to the United Kingdom to discuss official government matters. He just went there to renew his image,” Osinowo added.
Osinowo urged Nigerians to rely solely on recognized government communication channels such as Onanuga or Sunday Dare for official statements. “If you need anything about the APC government, you talk to Bayo Onanuga or Sunday Dare. These are the people in charge of public communication who convey the stand of the government to Nigerians, not Daniel,” he emphasized.
The APC member also reminded the public of Bwala’s previous controversial remarks, including allegations against President Tinubu that he had created a militia—claims Osinowo described as false.
Osinowo’s criticism comes amid growing public backlash against Bwala following his interview with Al Jazeera journalist Mehdi Hasan, which sparked debates about his comments and credibility.
