Ekiti PDP Candidate Wole Oluyede Warns Silence Fuels Corruption, Urges Voters to Rise Against Bad Leadership

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has issued a stark warning to residents, describing public silence as a dangerous enabler of corruption and societal decay.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Gani Salau, Oluyede urged citizens to actively participate in shaping the state’s future, framing the June 20, 2026 election as a decisive moment for change.

“The rising wave of injustice, corruption, and suffering is not accidental. It thrives where citizens remain passive,” Oluyede said in a statement released on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti. He emphasized that collective inaction allows poorly-intentioned individuals to dominate, warning that silence is far from neutral.

Citing Edmund Burke, Oluyede reminded voters: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” He argued that wrongdoing succeeds not through inherent strength, but because of fear, apathy, or indifference among the majority.

Oluyede further highlighted that Ekiti’s decline since the PDP lost power in 2018 stems from a culture of indifference, which he says has allowed corruption and mismanagement to flourish unchecked. He called even small acts of civic engagement meaningful in resisting systemic injustice.

The PDP candidate promised transformative leadership, pledging to implement programs that would eradicate poverty, improve governance, and position Ekiti as economically self-reliant within his first term. Drawing on his background as an internationally accomplished medical doctor and businessman, he stressed his ability to manage both financial and human resources prudently.

He likened the voter’s role to that of Spartan warriors, urging citizens to rise decisively at the polls to reclaim their future. Oluyede assured that the PDP stands united behind his candidacy, presenting a strong and cohesive platform for meaningful change.
