Plateau State Launches Massive Outsourcing Drive as 6,000 Apply for New Digital Jobs Initiative

Plateau State is pushing deeper into Nigeria’s digital economy race with a new outsourcing partnership aimed at creating thousands of jobs and repositioning the state as a major hub for global remote services.

The initiative, driven by the Plateau State Government in collaboration with Outsource Global, is designed to expand job creation and digital inclusion across the state while aligning workforce skills with long-term economic growth plans.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang hosted a delegation from Outsource Global at the Old Government House, Rayfield, Jos, where discussions centred on building a structured talent pipeline for the outsourcing industry.

At the heart of the project is a bold ambition: transform Plateau into a competitive destination for international outsourcing services such as software engineering, legal support, and accounting solutions.

Founder and CEO of Outsource Global, Amal Hassan, said Nigeria is steadily gaining global recognition as a reliable outsourcing destination, with the country already proving its capacity to deliver high-value professional services.

She revealed that recruitment for the Jos-based expansion has already attracted strong interest, with about 6,000 applications received in just the first week. According to her, large-scale interviews are ongoing as the programme scales up.

“We have commenced large-scale interviews and will continue the process,” she said, describing the response as a clear sign of local readiness for digital employment opportunities.

The programme is expected to grow into a major employment platform, with plans to scale up to 50,000 participants. A portion of that workforce is projected to secure international placements, while others will serve in domestic outsourcing roles.

Chief Executive Officer of Bluetag and Outsource Global director, Uzochukwu Eziukwu, said the model is built around skills development rather than academic certificates alone.

He explained that the system will identify talent, match people to suitable roles, and guide them into industry-specific career paths. A six-month internship structure will also be introduced to improve employability and transition participants into paid roles.

Governor Mutfwang said the initiative is a direct response to rising unemployment, stressing that practical skills—not certificates—will determine economic success in the new digital era.

“It is about skills. A certificate alone does not confer competence,” he said, adding that the programme is designed to include wide participation, including women working remotely from home.

To support the rollout, the state government has secured a partnership with MTN Nigeria to use its Bukuru facility as an operational base. The site is expected to accommodate up to 1,600 workers across multiple shifts.

With digital work rapidly reshaping global employment, Plateau’s latest move signals a deliberate shift toward positioning the state within the international outsourcing economy.
