Tinubu Should Resign Over Insecurity Before 2027 — Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Fires At Presidency

A former political adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has launched a scathing attack on the administration, declaring that worsening insecurity across Nigeria should force the president to step down before the 2027 elections.

Baba-Ahmed, who is now a national leader of the Peoples Redemption Party, made the remarks during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, where he accused the Federal Government of failing in its most basic responsibility — protecting lives and property.

The former presidential aide said the growing wave of kidnappings, attacks and killings across the country showed that the government had lost control of the nation’s security situation.

“It’s clear Tinubu has no handle on the escalating menace,” Baba-Ahmed said during the interview.

He argued that Nigerians across different regions now live in fear as criminal attacks continue to spread, including incidents involving schoolchildren and communities previously considered safe.

“Every inch of Nigeria is now vulnerable. Children are being stolen, communities are under attack and insecurity has become normalised,” he stated.

Baba-Ahmed insisted that in a functioning democracy, the scale of insecurity currently facing Nigeria would have already triggered serious political consequences for any sitting president.

According to him, his call for Tinubu’s resignation should not be viewed as a partisan attack but as a necessary response to what he described as a failure of leadership.

“In a democratic setting, the President has two key responsibilities — to protect citizens and protect the country. Tinubu has failed to protect Nigerians,” he said.

The PRP chieftain also urged voters to reject the president in the 2027 general elections if the security situation fails to improve significantly before then.

He stressed that his comments were not driven by political hostility but by concern over the increasing level of criminality and violence affecting ordinary Nigerians.

His remarks come amid growing national debates over insecurity, following repeated incidents of kidnappings, attacks on communities and abductions involving schoolchildren in different parts of the country.
