A sweeping security operation across parts of Lagos has led to the arrest of 150 suspects and the recovery of firearms, unregistered motorcycles, suspected stolen items and illicit drugs as the Lagos State Police Command intensifies its crackdown on criminal activities.
The operation, carried out under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted notorious criminal hideouts in Igando, Idimu and surrounding communities. According to the police, the raid followed credible intelligence that identified the locations as hotspots for criminal activities.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the coordinated operation commenced at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday and involved officers drawn from multiple formations of the Lagos State Police Command. The affected locations included Boolar, Oko Filling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis.
During the operation, officers recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel shotgun, two military camouflage uniforms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, assorted charms, as well as substances believed to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.
The police said all 150 suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement in various criminal activities. Authorities added that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Explaining the rationale behind the exercise, the command said the operation forms part of its sustained strategy to dismantle criminal networks and eliminate safe havens for criminals across Lagos.
“As part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has sustained its aggressive clearance operations against criminal hideouts across the state, in line with the Command’s commitment to ensuring that there is no safe haven for criminals,” the statement read.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers who participated in the operation, commending their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain the anti-crime campaign across the state to enhance public safety and security.
The police urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information, noting that community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime in Lagos.
