The music industry is mourning the loss of British pop singer Lauren Bennett, whose vocals helped power LMFAO’s global smash hit “Party Rock Anthem.” She was 36.
News of Bennett’s death was confirmed by her girl group, G.R.L, in an emotional statement shared on the group’s official Instagram page on Monday.
Paying tribute to their late bandmate, the group described her as a cherished friend whose warmth and energy left a lasting impact on everyone around her.
“Our hearts are broken, and we can’t begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us. Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts,” the statement read.
Bennett rose to international recognition after featuring on LMFAO’s 2011 chart-topping anthem, “Party Rock Anthem,” one of the biggest dance-pop hits of the decade. She later became a member of G.R.L, where she continued to build a successful career in pop music.
The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed. However, USA TODAY reported that records from the Kent and Medway Coroner indicate that an inquest into the circumstances surrounding her death has been scheduled for October.
Fans and fellow musicians have since taken to social media to pay tribute to Bennett, remembering her distinctive voice and contributions to pop music during one of the genre’s most successful eras.
Further details surrounding her passing are expected to emerge following the coroner’s inquest.
