Atiku Aide Claims Donald Trump Has Been Briefed on Tinubu’s US Court Records

Fresh controversy has emerged after a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar claimed that United States President Donald Trump has been informed about court documents linked to President Bola Tinubu’s alleged past legal records in the United States.

Paul Ibe, who serves as an aide to Atiku, made the allegation in a post shared on his X account on Wednesday. He claimed that a 60-page United States Department of Justice (DOJ) file relating to allegations of heroin trafficking and the forfeiture of $460,000 had been brought to Trump’s attention through a US lobbying firm, Batten Von.

According to Ibe, Nigerians deserve full disclosure regarding the documents and their contents.

“Finally, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 60-page DOJ files on heroin trafficking and forfeiture of $460,000 has been brought to the attention of @realDonaldTrump courtesy of a US lobbyist firm, @batten_von,” Ibe wrote.

He added, “Manuel Noriega on my mind. Nigerians deserve to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The best is being saved for last.”

However, Ibe did not present any evidence to substantiate his claim that President Trump had been officially briefed on the documents. He also did not indicate whether any action had been taken by the US president or his administration regarding the matter.

President Tinubu has previously faced public scrutiny over US court records connected to a 1993 civil forfeiture case. The issue has remained a subject of political debate in Nigeria, particularly among opposition figures, although no fresh official statement from the Presidency had been issued on Ibe’s latest claims at the time of filing this report.
