Ita Enang Officially Assumes Office as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany After Presenting Credentials

Nigeria has officially strengthened its diplomatic presence in Europe as Ambassador Ita Enang formally assumed office after presenting his Letters of Credence to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin.

The credential presentation ceremony, held on Friday at the German Presidency, marked Enang’s official recognition as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany and signalled the beginning of his diplomatic mission in one of Europe’s largest economies.

The event began with a military welcome parade before Enang signed the official accreditation register and presented his Letters of Credence to President Steinmeier in line with diplomatic protocol.

Following the formal ceremony, both leaders held bilateral discussions focused on deepening relations between Nigeria and Germany. The talks covered key areas of cooperation, including agriculture, food security, technology, and industrial development.

Enang disclosed that President Steinmeier extended warm greetings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to its longstanding relationship with Nigeria.

The discussions also explored new opportunities to expand economic collaboration, particularly in sectors capable of driving sustainable growth and innovation in both countries.

As part of his proposals, Enang called for increased German investment in Nigeria’s automobile assembly industry, arguing that such partnerships would encourage local manufacturing, facilitate technology transfer, and create employment opportunities for Nigerians.

His appointment comes as Nigeria seeks to strengthen economic diplomacy, attract foreign investment, and deepen strategic partnerships with key global economies.
