The Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), a pro-President Bola Tinubu support group, will formally launch its national campaign for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday, August 22.
The event, scheduled for 10am, will also mark the inauguration of RHGN’s Plateau State executive council and local government coordinators as the group expands its political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
RHGN is led by its National Leader and Convener, Hon. Calistus Anyanwu, who has overseen the rollout of similar structures in the Southeast and other parts of the country. The group says its strategy is focused on building support at ward and community level rather than relying mainly on public statements and large rallies.
Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwada, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to serve as the chief host. His involvement highlights the relationship between RHGN’s grassroots mobilisation efforts and the ruling party’s wider political organisation ahead of the presidential election.
The group says it plans to campaign around what it considers key achievements of the Tinubu administration. These include the removal of the petrol subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange market, the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), tax reforms and increased direct allocations to local governments.
RHGN has also promoted a grassroots mobilisation model that includes ward and local government structures, with the group previously announcing plans for a “Booth Army” to operate at polling-unit level. The Plateau chapter is expected to adopt a similar approach as it builds its network across the state.
The Jos event will be held under the theme of unity and grassroots empowerment, with the Plateau chapter adopting the slogan, “Together, We Can Do More.” Organisers say the chapter will focus on unity, service to communities and development as part of its mobilisation message.
The inauguration comes as political groups begin positioning themselves well ahead of the 2027 elections. For RHGN, the Plateau rollout is part of a broader effort to establish a nationwide political network before the intensity of the election campaign peaks
