2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup: Falconets Depart for Poland Ahead of Spain Opener

Nigeria’s Falconets will depart Abuja for Poland on Monday as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The team has spent several weeks in camp in Abuja, where head coach Moses Aduku has overseen an intensive training programme ahead of the global tournament.

The Falconets will continue their preparations in Poland with two friendly matches against Poland and Korea Republic. The games are expected to give Aduku a final opportunity to assess his squad and fine-tune his tactics before the competition begins.

The friendly fixtures will also allow the players to adapt to their new surroundings and build match sharpness ahead of their opening World Cup encounter.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group F alongside Spain, China and New Caledonia, setting up a challenging route to the knockout stages.

The Falconets will begin their World Cup campaign against Spain on Monday, September 7, at the Arena Sosnowiec. The match will be their first major test as they begin their quest for success on the international stage.

With their departure for Poland marking the final phase of preparations, Aduku will be hoping the team’s extended training camp and warm-up matches have provided the right platform for Nigeria to make a strong start at the tournament.
