2027: Dickson Meets Peter Obi, Kwankwaso as NDC Moves to Finalise Campaign Council

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is intensifying preparations for the 2027 general elections as its national leader, Seriake Dickson, held another meeting with presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, in Abuja.

Dickson, a former Bayelsa State governor, disclosed the meeting in a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, saying the discussions focused on party affairs and broader issues affecting Nigeria.

The meeting came just two days after Dickson said he had met with Obi, Kwankwaso and other party leaders for consultations. He said the latest engagement was aimed at reaching final decisions ahead of the formal unveiling of the NDC Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.

Dickson was joined at the meeting by the NDC National Chairman and other senior party officials. He described the continued consultations as part of efforts to strengthen the party and ensure it is adequately prepared for the election campaign.

The former governor called on NDC stakeholders, aspirants and members to put aside differences, close ranks and work together for the success of the party’s candidates across all levels of government.

He stressed the importance of collective action as the party moves towards the 2027 polls, urging members to support candidates from the presidential level down to other elective positions.

The renewed engagement between Dickson, Obi and Kwankwaso comes as political parties and opposition groups step up preparations for the 2027 general elections, with campaign structures expected to become more visible in the months ahead.

The NDC leadership is now expected to conclude arrangements for the unveiling of its Campaign Council, which will play a key role in coordinating the party’s mobilisation and campaign activities ahead of the elections.
