INEC Updates NDC’s ‘Two Fingers Up’ Logo on Portal Ahead of 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) logo displayed on its official portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commission now reflects the party’s modified logo featuring a blue background, a two-finger victory sign and the inscription “NDC” in red.

The update follows a September 8, 2026 judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which directed INEC to recognise, approve and upload the modified logo for use in elections conducted by the commission.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled in favour of the NDC after the party challenged INEC’s handling of its request to replace the logo under which it was originally registered.

The NDC had alleged that INEC initially uploaded the modified design but later removed it and restored the older logo associated with the party’s original registration.

The court held that the modified logo adopted by the NDC at its first National Executive Committee meeting on March 25, 2026, should be recognised as the party’s official logo.

The judgment also directed INEC to use the modified design for the party in all elections conducted by the commission and restrained the electoral body from interfering with the NDC’s use of the logo.

The latest portal update brings INEC’s online records in line with the court order as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections.

Following the judgment, NDC leaders directed the party’s candidates and members to use the modified logo on campaign materials, including banners, posters and other publicity materials.

The logo dispute had become part of the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the NDC seeking formal recognition of the symbol it adopted through its internal processes.
