Adeboye Urges Nigerians to Rejoice, Pray and Give Thanks Daily

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Nigerians to make rejoicing, prayer and thanksgiving daily habits to overcome anxiety and pressure.**

Adeboye gave the advice while preaching at the RCCG headquarters in Lagos on Sunday, where he encouraged believers to approach each day with joy and confidence in God.

Citing 1 Thessalonians 5:16–17, the cleric said people should begin their mornings by rejoicing and praising God rather than allowing past experiences or worries about the future to dominate their thoughts.

“When you wake up every morning, rejoice. Praise God. Start your day on a positive note of rejoicing. Forget about the past. Just rejoice. Wake up with joy and allow the joy of the Lord to dominate your life,” he said.

Adeboye also advised believers against allowing concerns about tomorrow to overwhelm them, stressing that those who trust God should not live in constant fear of the future.

“If I am not where I am by my ability, why should I worry about tomorrow? He took care of me yesterday; He will take care of me tomorrow,” the pastor said.

He further encouraged Christians to maintain a consistent prayer life, urging them to take their concerns to God instead of allowing their problems to become a source of anxiety.

“Pray always. Make your requests known to God. Rather than worry over your problems, pray about them,” Adeboye said, adding that prayer provides a way for believers to involve God in their situations.

On thanksgiving, the RCCG leader urged believers to remain grateful regardless of their circumstances, saying difficult situations should not determine their attitude towards life.

“In everything give thanks. Don’t allow your circumstances to affect your life. Give thanks irrespective of what you are going through in life,” he said.

The service, which was dedicated to judges and lawyers, also saw Adeboye speak about advocacy, drawing from Romans 8:31. He described Jesus as an advocate who, in Christian belief, stands on behalf of believers before God.

Adeboye’s message centred on maintaining joy, prayer and gratitude as daily spiritual practices, particularly when facing uncertainty, pressure and difficult circumstances.
