Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare could remain at Ajax beyond the current season, with the Dutch club indicating plans to make his loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers permanent.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff has suggested that the Eredivisie side is ready to secure the 25-year-old’s services following his impressive performances since arriving in Amsterdam.

Arokodare joined Ajax on a season-long loan from English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers during the summer transfer window.

The Super Eagles forward has quickly made his mark at the club, recording 10 goals and three assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for the former European champions.

His impressive statistics have strengthened the possibility of a permanent move, with his current loan agreement reportedly containing an option-to-buy clause worth almost €20 million.

Cruyff disclosed that Ajax has already made arrangements concerning the potential transfer, including discussions about the striker’s financial terms.

“Everything has already been arranged. His salary too, although he did ask for a pay rise at the last press conference,” Cruyff told Ziggosport.

The technical director’s comments suggest that Ajax are confident about retaining the Nigerian international beyond the current campaign, although the permanent transfer is yet to be officially completed.

Arokodare’s future is therefore likely to remain a major talking point as the season progresses, particularly given his impressive contribution to Ajax’s attack.
