The CityBoy Movement in Ogun State has intensified its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, with a stakeholder in Ado-Odo Constituency II, Solomon Olarewaju, commending the group for its campaign activities.

Olarewaju, who is also a Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor, said the movement was taking the message of the President Bola Tinubu administration to communities across the state through various programmes and political engagement.

He said the growing presence of the group at the grassroots would help strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure and increase support for Tinubu and the party’s Ogun governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI.

Adeola emerged as the APC’s consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun governorship election after receiving the backing of Governor Dapo Abiodun and party stakeholders across the state.

Olarewaju also said the CityBoy Movement was creating opportunities for youths and other stakeholders to participate in political engagement and mobilisation. He described youth involvement as important to the movement’s efforts to expand its reach ahead of the election.

The stakeholder reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to a target of mobilising at least two million votes for President Tinubu in Ogun State in 2027. The target was earlier announced by Adeola during the inauguration of the CityBoy Movement’s Ogun structure.

Adeola has said the two-million-vote target is based on Ogun’s large registered voter population, which he put at about 3.01 million. The figure represents a political mobilisation target rather than a confirmed electoral outcome.

The CityBoy Movement has continued to expand its organisational structure in Ogun. Its state leadership recently said the group had recorded more than 150,000 active members and was targeting more than 500,000 members across the state before January 2027.

Olarewaju also expressed support for Adeola’s proposed ITESIWAJU agenda, describing it as a framework focused on continuity, development and inclusive governance in Ogun State. He specifically highlighted the APC candidate’s emphasis on youth participation in political and governance processes.

He urged members and stakeholders of the CityBoy Movement to maintain peaceful political engagement, grassroots mobilisation and voter participation as preparations for the 2027 elections continue. The movement, he said, would sustain its efforts to build support for Tinubu, Adeola and other APC candidates across Ogun State.
