Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has agreed to appear on Nigerian content creator Isbae U’s YouTube show, Curiosity Made Me Ask, following an invitation from the comedian during a visit to Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
Isbae U, whose real name is Adebayo Ridwan, made the request on Monday, arguing that many of Dangote’s previous interviews had appeared on platforms that younger Nigerians do not typically follow, despite their interest in the billionaire’s business ventures and investment plans.
The comedian urged Dangote to engage directly with younger audiences through digital platforms that have become popular among the country’s youth. He suggested that an appearance on the show could give young Nigerians an opportunity to hear from one of Africa’s most influential business figures in a more informal setting.
Dangote welcomed the suggestion, acknowledging the importance of engaging younger generations. He noted that young Nigerians represent the country’s future and that older people have a responsibility to share their experiences and lessons with them.
The billionaire also expressed his willingness to sit down with young people and discuss his business journey, including how he built his companies and achieved success. His response signalled an openness to sharing insights beyond the traditional corporate interviews and business forums where he often speaks.
The exchange has generated interest because it brings together a major figure in African industry and a content creator known for an informal, question-driven interview format. The show’s style could provide a different setting for discussions about entrepreneurship, ambition, investment and the challenges of building a business.
For younger viewers, a potential appearance could offer insights into Dangote’s career, the decisions behind his business expansion and the experiences that shaped his rise in the corporate world. It could also create room for questions about opportunities and challenges facing young entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
However, although Dangote has accepted the invitation, no confirmed recording date or episode release date has been announced. The appearance therefore remains anticipated rather than a scheduled release.
Attention will now turn to the questions Isbae U and his audience may bring to the conversation, should the interview go ahead. For many young Nigerians, the prospect of hearing Dangote speak in a less formal setting may be just as significant as the business lessons he could share.
