Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price Again, Slashes Gantry Rate to N1,125 Per Litre

Motorists and fuel marketers may soon see another round of petrol price reductions after Dangote Refinery announced a fresh cut in its ex-depot petrol price, bringing the gantry rate down to N1,125 per litre.

The latest adjustment represents a N50 per litre reduction from the previous gantry price of N1,175 per litre, further strengthening expectations that retail fuel prices could decline across Nigeria in the coming days.

Confirming the development, Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina said the refinery had officially reduced its petrol loading price for marketers.

“It is true our petrol gantry price was reduced by N50 per litre,” Chiejina stated.

The reduction also affected the refinery’s coastal supply price. The cost of petrol supplied through coastal channels dropped from N1,495,215 per metric tonne to N1,428,165 per metric tonne, reflecting a broader downward adjustment in the market.

The latest move comes as global crude oil prices continue to retreat from the highs recorded during the Middle East conflict. Brent crude and other benchmarks have fallen back to between $69 and $73 per barrel, returning to levels seen before tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States disrupted energy markets earlier this year.

This is the second major petrol price cut by Dangote Refinery within two weeks. On June 16, the refinery reduced its gantry price by N75 per litre, a move that triggered retail fuel price reductions across several states.

With the latest adjustment, Dangote Refinery has now reduced its petrol loading price by a total of N125 per litre since global oil prices began easing after the regional conflict subsided.

Despite the reductions, many Nigerians say pump prices remain too high. Petrol currently sells between N1,241 and N1,305 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas, while consumers continue to call for prices to return to the N800–N900 per litre range seen before the outbreak of the Middle East crisis on February 28, 2026.
