The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Enugu State, Ray Kene Ogbodo, has vowed to pursue all legal means to resolve the omission of his name from the list of candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 election.
Ogbodo described the development as a temporary setback, insisting that it would not weaken his determination to contest the governorship election or his commitment to bringing change to Enugu State.
His name was reportedly missing from INEC’s recently released list of candidates, which included Governor Peter Mbah of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Uche Nnaji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Ocho Obodoeze of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Reacting to the omission through his media aide, Hon. Don Victor, Ogbodo said he was working with his party and the electoral commission to address the issue in line with the law. He expressed hope that the matter would be resolved positively.
“Although my name was not included in the recently published INEC list, we are taking the necessary steps with our party and the electoral commission to resolve the issue in accordance with the law,” Ogbodo said.
The PRP candidate reassured his supporters that he remained committed to the 2027 governorship race, adding that the challenges surrounding his candidacy would not distract him from his political ambitions. He also maintained that his vision for a better Enugu State remained unchanged.
“Our determination remains unshaken, and our commitment to a better future for Ndi Enugu remains stronger than ever. We are still on course for Enugu 2027,” he stated.
Ogbodo urged PRP members and his supporters across the state to remain calm, peaceful and united while efforts to resolve the outstanding electoral matter continue through the appropriate channels.
