Former Katsina South Senator Bello Mandiya Dies at 62

Former Senator representing Katsina South Senatorial District, Bello Mandiya, has died at the age of 62.

Mandiya died on Monday, September 7, 2026, with the Katsina State Government announcing his death and expressing condolences to his family and associates.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the death as a major loss to Katsina State and Nigeria, praising the late senator for his service and contributions to public life.

Before his election to the Senate, Mandiya served as Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari. He later won election to the Senate in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Mandiya represented Katsina South in the Ninth Senate from 2019 to 2023, during which he remained active in national and state affairs.

Radda described the former lawmaker as a committed public servant whose contributions to the development of Katsina State and Nigeria would be remembered.

The governor extended his condolences to Mandiya’s family, former Governor Masari, the people of Katsina South, his political associates and friends, as well as his former colleagues in the Ninth Senate.

Radda prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the late senator’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
