Nigeria’s Future Eagles secured one victory and one draw in their latest matches at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, defeating Cyprus 2-1 before playing out a 1-1 draw against Pakistan on Monday.

The Nigerian youngsters staged a comeback to beat Cyprus in their opening fixture after conceding an early goal. Georgios Christodoulou put Cyprus ahead in the 12th minute, but Wisdom Oche restored parity five minutes later.

Nigeria completed the turnaround in the 26th minute when substitute Timothy Ijach found the net. His effort proved decisive as the Future Eagles held on to secure their first win of the tournament.

However, the Nigerian side could not maintain that winning momentum against Pakistan in their final group fixture. Despite creating opportunities to claim another victory, they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The result denied the Future Eagles consecutive wins and highlighted the challenge of maintaining their attacking effectiveness across successive matches. Pakistan proved a difficult opponent, ensuring both teams shared the points.

The two fixtures provided Nigeria’s young players with valuable experience against international opposition as they continue their development. Competing against teams from different countries also offers opportunities to improve their tactical awareness, teamwork and match management.

The Future Eagles will aim to build on the positives from their comeback victory over Cyprus while addressing the weaknesses exposed against Pakistan as they continue their campaign at the tournament.
