Gombe Governor Names Three Commissioner Nominees, Six Aides

Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya has approved the nomination of three Commissioners-designate, alongside the appointment of two Special Advisers and four Senior Special Assistants.

The appointments, announced by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, are aimed at strengthening the state’s governance structure and improving coordination in the implementation of the administration’s development agenda.

The governor has forwarded the names of the three commissioner nominees to the Gombe State House of Assembly for screening and approval.

The nominees are Dr Ahmed Wali Doho, Nasiru Adamu Degri and Dr Muhammad A. Bello. Their appointments will remain subject to confirmation by the House of Assembly.

Yahaya also approved the appointment of Abdulmalik Musa Jibrin and Mohammed Bashir Nuhu as Special Advisers.

In addition, Jibrin M. Ali, Sadiq Mohammed Abubakar, popularly known as BB Kumo, John Launa and Danlami Sanda were appointed as Senior Special Assistants II on Political and Community Engagement.

According to the statement, the appointments of the Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants take immediate effect, while the commissioner nominees must first complete the legislative screening and approval process.

The latest appointments come after Yahaya expanded the state’s executive structure earlier in 2026. In July, he swore in 23 commissioners following the reconstitution of the State Executive Council and expansion of the number of ministries.

The state government said the new appointments are expected to strengthen coordination across government and support the implementation of its development programmes as the administration continues its current term.
