Nandi Ntini, a resident of Soweto, said the celebrations began immediately after the match. According to her, the sound of vuvuzelas and fireworks echoed through the neighbourhood for more than an hour as fans marked the historic achievement.

Videos shared online showed emotional supporters chanting, dancing and expressing confidence that the team could continue its remarkable World Cup journey. Many described the qualification as a proud moment for South African football and a symbol of national resilience.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also congratulated the team, praising what he described as an inspired performance. He said the victory had united the country behind a shared dream and renewed hope for further success in the tournament.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for Bafana Bafana, who are competing in a World Cup for the first time since South Africa hosted the tournament in 2010. With momentum building and the nation firmly behind them, attention now turns to the knockout stage and whether the team can continue its fairytale run.
