Veteran Nigerian producer and music executive ID Cabasa has encouraged Christian creatives to actively participate in the secular music industry, rejecting the belief that the space is inherently “ungodly”.
The Coded Tunes founder argued that the idea that the devil controls the music industry is misleading and should not discourage believers from pursuing careers in it.
Taking to his X account, Cabasa said there is a deliberate effort to push Christian creatives away from mainstream music using what he described as a false narrative about spiritual ownership of the industry.
“If you are a Christian creatives within the secular space please pay attention! There’s an agenda to dissuade you from taking that space with a lie that the devil own that space! The devil owns Sin and carnality ‘Yes.’ But the earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof,” he wrote.
He stressed that secular music is not beyond the reach of Christian influence, adding that believers have a role to play in shaping culture from within rather than withdrawing from it.
Cabasa further noted that while wrongdoing exists across the world, there is a greater need for positive influence, which he described as “light”, to counteract negativity.
“There’s evil in the world but there’s shortage of light which is why evil prevail,” he said, insisting that faith-based creatives should not be discouraged from entering mainstream entertainment.
He concluded by reassuring Christian artists that their values can still make an impact in the industry, adding: “Their evil cannot trump your light.”
