A new leadership team has taken charge of the Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA), Imo State Chapter, following the inauguration of a seven-member Interim Management Committee to oversee the affairs of the association.

The newly appointed committee was unveiled in Owerri, with Chief Stanley Ohiri named as Interim Chairman and Mr. Sam Okoli serving as Interim Secretary. The announcement marks a new phase for the association after the expiration of the tenure of its previous executive committee.

Addressing journalists in the Imo State capital, Ohiri said the transition became necessary after members of the association successfully concluded the tenure of the executive led by Acting Chairman, Eze Josephat Nwosu. He explained that members also approved a new constitution designed to strengthen the association’s operations and improve its effectiveness.

According to him, the newly adopted constitution provides the legal framework for the Interim Management Committee, which has been tasked with managing the association until a substantive leadership is elected. Other members of the committee are Mr. Ikenna Emeh, Mr. Tony Ukwuaku, Amara Egbuchulam, Chief Ifeanyi Igwe, and Mr. Arinze Okeke.

Ohiri disclosed that shortly after its inauguration, the committee paid a courtesy visit to the Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Hon. Ernest Ibejiako, whose ministry oversees the state’s hospitality industry.

During the visit, the committee formally presented the newly adopted constitution and introduced its members to the commissioner. Ohiri said Ibejiako reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with the association to promote the hospitality and tourism sector in Imo State.

Reacting to the development, the National Consultant to the Nigeria Hotel Association and former Imo State Chairman, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere, congratulated the new leadership and urged members to uphold the rule of law while carrying out their responsibilities.

Chukwunyere also reminded stakeholders that the association remains united despite recent leadership changes, cautioning members against actions capable of creating division. He previously served as chairman of the Imo chapter before stepping down in March 2025, citing personal reasons.
