Kebbi Government Welcomes New Army Formations to Boost Security

The Kebbi State Government has welcomed the Nigerian Army’s establishment and operationalisation of new military formations in the state, saying the move will strengthen efforts to tackle insecurity.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the additional military presence would improve security operations and enable faster responses to emerging threats across Kebbi and neighbouring areas.

The Army recently operationalised the 28 Armoured Brigade and Garrison in Birnin Kebbi, alongside the 281 Tank Battalion in Yauri and the 381 Artillery Regiment in Kaoje.

Ahmed said the new formations would enhance the capacity of security forces to respond to banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities affecting communities across the state.

He described the development as a significant step towards improving security coverage and protecting residents and communities.

The commissioner also expressed the state government’s support for closer cooperation between the military, other security agencies and local communities in addressing security challenges.

The new formations are expected to increase the Army’s operational presence in parts of Kebbi and strengthen efforts to protect lives, property and critical communities from criminal threats.
