Zamfara Security Challenge Not Over, Says SSG

The Zamfara State Government has admitted that the security crisis in the state is not yet over, despite ongoing efforts to tackle banditry and kidnapping.

The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, made the disclosure on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the J.B. Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau ahead of the state’s 30th anniversary.

Nakwada acknowledged the sacrifices of personnel from the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as other conventional security agencies operating in the state.

He said some security personnel had lost their lives while serving in difficult conditions and defending communities affected by banditry and kidnapping.

The SSG said the state government remained committed to supporting security agencies within its capacity, stressing that improved security was essential to restoring normal life across Zamfara.

“We recognise that the security challenge is not yet over. Government therefore remains resolute in providing every legitimate support within its capacity until our communities are safer, livelihoods are restored, and our people can pursue their daily activities without fear,” Nakwada said.

His comments come as Zamfara continues to face security challenges linked to banditry and kidnapping, which have disrupted communities and livelihoods across parts of the state.

Nakwada said the government would continue working with security agencies and other stakeholders to strengthen efforts aimed at protecting residents and restoring stability across the state.
