The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has declared that the 2027 general elections will end what he described as President Bola Tinubu’s government of lies and deceit.
Makinde made the declaration on Thursday at the APM South-West Town Hall meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, where he criticised the Tinubu administration over what he described as its failure to fulfil campaign promises.
The Oyo State governor promised that, if elected president, he would run an inclusive and transparent government and always tell Nigerians the truth. He accused Tinubu of breaking promises made to Nigerians before assuming office.
Makinde recalled the President’s reported pledge to address Nigeria’s electricity challenges within four years, arguing that the administration had failed to deliver on that commitment.
“The current administration came in and told us that it had the magic wand to solve the challenges confronting us. As a matter of fact, the President said that if he failed to fix electricity in four years, Nigerians should not vote for him again,” Makinde said.
He argued that the state of electricity supply and other unresolved challenges showed that the administration had fallen short of its promises to the electorate.
“The 2027 elections will end the government of lies and deceit,” the APM candidate declared.
Makinde also challenged the Federal Government to release its pricing template for petroleum products, saying Nigerians deserved to understand how current prices were determined.
The governor said his administration, if elected at the national level, would be committed to transparency and accountability. He further suggested that his government would not remain in office beyond four years if it failed to meet its obligations, in a statement directed at the Tinubu administration’s record.
