Troops Rescue Four Kidnap Victims In Zamfara, Kebbi Operations

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, have rescued four kidnap victims during separate security operations in Zamfara and Kebbi states.

The spokesman for the 8 Division, Sector 2, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed the development on Thursday, providing details of the rescues carried out in the two states.

Osoba said troops rescued Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49, from a farm in Binoni Marafa, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

In Kebbi State, the troops rescued two other victims, identified as Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41, along the route between Bena and Sawade.

According to Osoba, the Kebbi operation followed intelligence reports that suspected terrorists were moving with kidnapped victims from Dipindu village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.

He said troops responded to the report and successfully rescued the two victims, who were subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu.

Osoba added that troops had intensified patrols and surveillance across their areas of responsibility to restrict the movement of criminal groups, prevent further attacks and improve security in the affected communities.

The latest operations highlight ongoing military efforts to tackle kidnapping and other security threats in parts of Nigeria’s North-West region.
