Several Manchester United players are reportedly unhappy with the direction of the club, amid growing tension following defender Lisandro Martinez’s criticism of the club’s leadership.

The development comes after United’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, when Martinez reportedly questioned the ambition of the club’s hierarchy and criticised its failure to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window.

The Argentine defender’s reported outburst has raised questions about his future at Old Trafford, with senior club officials said to be considering possible disciplinary action.

However, Martinez is reportedly not the only United player who shares concerns about the club’s direction.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development in a post on X, suggesting that other members of the squad also hold similar views about the club’s leadership.

“Lisandro Martínez, not the only player at Manchester United with that view of the situation at club level,” Romano wrote.

He added that United were assessing a possible sanction or fine for Martinez, citing a report by The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell.

Romano also noted that Martinez’s contract runs until June 2027, with the club holding an option to extend it until 2028.

Meanwhile, United’s recent results have added to the pressure surrounding the team. The club have reportedly gone five consecutive fixtures without a win under Michael Carrick, who took charge on a permanent basis this summer.

The combination of poor results and reported dissatisfaction among players could intensify scrutiny of the club’s leadership and its plans for the squad. However, the extent of the reported discontent among players has not been publicly established.
