MFM Empowers 10 Women, Supports Widows and Awards Scholarships to 20 Pupils in Akure

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Ondo Mega Region 1, Southwest 4, Adesuper, Akure, has empowered 10 women with brand-new sewing machines, provided grinding machines to widows and awarded scholarships to 20 pupils as part of efforts to improve livelihoods and support education.

The initiatives, announced in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Friday, are aimed at promoting self-reliance, strengthening household incomes and expanding access to education among members of the church and residents of its host community.

Under the fashion design programme, 10 women who completed free training received sewing machines to help them establish or expand their tailoring businesses. The initiative is designed to equip beneficiaries with practical skills to generate income and become financially independent.

The church also provided grinding machines to widows to strengthen their businesses and help them meet the financial needs of their families. In addition, 20 indigent pupils of Mountain Top Nursery and Primary School, Akure, received scholarships to ease the cost of their education.

Speaking on the interventions, the Mega Regional Overseer of MFM Ondo Mega Region 1, Pastor Ademola Adeniyi, said the programmes reflected the vision of the church’s General Overseer, Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, to improve lives through spiritual development and practical empowerment.

“Our father-in-the-Lord directed that all MFM churches must impact positively on the lives of members and host communities through explosive evangelism, not only by preaching and deliverance but also empowering them,” Adeniyi said.

He explained that the skills and equipment provided were intended to give beneficiaries sustainable sources of livelihood rather than leave them dependent on external assistance. He also urged the women to put their training into practice and encouraged church members and the public to patronise their businesses.

Adeniyi disclosed that the MFM Ondo Mega Region 1 Resource Centre, located within the church premises at Adesuper, had trained more than 100 women, teenagers and youths in fashion design free of charge and provided sewing machines to beneficiaries. He described Dr Olukoya and his wife, Dr Folashade Olukoya, as committed to humanitarian work and initiatives that transform lives.

On the scholarship programme, Adeniyi commended the board members of Mountain Top Nursery and Primary School for supporting the initiative, describing the awards as an investment in the children’s future. He added that the church’s social interventions also included financial assistance, free skills acquisition programmes for widows, women and youths, as well as sporting activities for young people.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, saying the sewing machines would help the women serve more customers, expand their businesses and improve their incomes. Widows who received grinding machines said the equipment would strengthen their businesses, while parents welcomed the scholarships as a way to reduce school expenses and help children continue their education.
