MURIC Tells Adeleke to ‘Pack Out’ of Osun Government House Ahead of Governorship Election

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has launched a fresh attack on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging him to prepare to leave office ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The group claimed that the governor had lost the confidence of many residents, insisting that voters would reject his bid for another term at the polls.

In a statement issued on Monday, MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola, accused Adeleke of failing to meet the expectations of the people. He alleged that a recently commissioned flyover in Osogbo developed defects just weeks after it was inaugurated, describing the incident as evidence of poor governance.

Akintola also criticised what he called the “Edenisation” of the state government, alleging that the administration had concentrated appointments and governance around Ede, the governor’s hometown, to the detriment of other parts of Osun State.

The Islamic advocacy group further faulted Adeleke’s handling of local government affairs, listing it among the issues it believes have weakened public confidence in his administration ahead of the election.

“As preparations for the gubernatorial election in Osun on 15th August, 2026 enter top gear, we remind Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his dancing kits out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late,” Akintola said.

He added: “For the flyover damaged after three weeks, for the alleged ‘edenisation’ of governance, for alleged mishandling of local government affairs, alleged examination malpractice, etc, we can’t look away.

“Governor Adeleke has crossed the Rubicon. He will be roundly defeated in the coming gubernatorial election in Osun on 15th August, 2026. That will be his punishment for playing on the intelligence of Osun Muslims.”

The statement reflects MURIC’s position ahead of the governorship election. As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government had not issued an official response to the allegations.
