Tragedy struck on an international route to Nigeria after a passenger, Alhaji Isiaq Dahunsi, died mid-air while travelling from Istanbul to Lagos.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 27, 2026, as the aircraft was approaching its destination at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
News of the death was made public by Dahunsi’s associate, Ishola Isiaq, an Imam with the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, who shared the development in a post on Facebook.
“I lost a childhood friend, Late Alhaji Isiaq Dahunsi, this morning, Monday 27th April 2026, on his way back from Istanbul, Turkey, to Murtala Muhammed International Airport. He died inside the flight,” he wrote.
The cleric also offered prayers for the deceased, asking for divine mercy and forgiveness.
“May Almighty Allah accept his return and forgive his shortcomings,” he added.
Details surrounding the circumstances of Dahunsi’s death remain unclear, with no official confirmation yet on the cause of death or the airline involved in the journey.
Incidents of in-flight medical emergencies, while relatively rare, often require immediate response from onboard crew and, in some cases, medical professionals among passengers.
Authorities are expected to provide further clarification as investigations or official reports emerge regarding the incident.
