A Nigerian pedicurist, Olusanya Samuel, popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual.
Samuel, an Anatomy graduate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), is scheduled to undertake the 48-hour challenge from October 29 to 31, 2026, at Njay Beauty Spa & Salon in Akure, Ondo State.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the attempt is aimed at showcasing the potential of Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry while raising awareness about foot care and hygiene.
Samuel, who founded the Sam Pedicures brand, said his academic background had strengthened his understanding of human physiology and foot care.
“My background in anatomy gave me a deeper understanding of human physiology and foot care structure,” he said.
He added that starting a business while studying taught him that young Nigerians could create employment opportunities by developing practical skills.
“Building a business alongside my studies showed me that young Nigerians do not have to wait for employment; we can create it through skill mastery,” he said.
Samuel disclosed that his entrepreneurial journey began in his second year at university, when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques.
After more than five years of practice, the venture grew from a side business into Sam Pedicures, a brand focused on foot hygiene and professional foot care.
The planned record attempt is also intended to encourage young Nigerians to acquire practical skills and explore entrepreneurship while pursuing formal education.
Organisers said the event would feature live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, food, drinks and free pedicure sessions for attendees.
Samuel completed his primary and secondary education in Ondo State before studying Anatomy at FUOYE. He is the son of Olusanya Adeleke, from Epe, Lagos State, and Adubi Mercy, from Akunu Akoko, Ondo State.
Through the planned 48-hour marathon, Samuel hopes to draw international attention to Nigeria’s personal care industry and demonstrate how specialised skills can create business opportunities for young people.
The attempt is scheduled for October 29 to 31, but the proposed record should not be considered an officially recognised Guinness World Record unless Guinness World Records confirms the achievement.
