The incident was reported at the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters on Sunday, October 18, 2026, after the police received information that a house had been set ablaze, resulting in the woman’s death.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday, describing the case as a suspected arson.
According to the police, Emehinola is currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at a mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. The police also disclosed that the case was being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The incident comes amid previous reports of alleged domestic violence in Ogun State. In 2024, PUNCH Metro reported that a man identified as Olubunmi Johnson allegedly set his wife, Kikelomo, on fire in their apartment on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in the Ota area of the state.
An eyewitness reportedly said that incident occurred at about 8:30pm following a domestic dispute.
