Osun APC Denies Working With MC Oluomo to Take Over Motor Parks

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected allegations that it is working with National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, to forcefully take control of motor parks across the state.

The allegation was made by the Osun State chapter of the Accord Party, which claimed that MC Oluomo was working with Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, and some APC members to take over motor parks and potentially trigger fresh violence.

Responding in a statement on Monday, APC Director of Media and Information in Osun, Kola Olabisi, described the allegation as false, fabricated and without evidence.

Olabisi said the APC had no involvement in the administration or activities of the NURTW, arguing that the management of the transport union was not part of the party’s constitutional responsibilities.

The party urged the public and security agencies to disregard Accord’s allegation, describing it as reckless and diversionary.

The APC also criticised the Osun State Government’s proposed Park Management System, arguing that the establishment, control and regulation of public motor parks fall within the responsibilities of local government councils.

The dispute comes against the backdrop of heightened tension over control of motor parks in Osun. On September 13, Accord chieftain Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, was killed in Ile-Ife during violence linked to the NURTW leadership dispute.

Following the killing, Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered the evacuation of rival NURTW groups from motor parks and announced plans to introduce a Park Management System. The governor also directed security agencies to arrest those allegedly involved in the killing and restore order.

The APC had previously criticised the proposed management system, describing it as unconstitutional and challenging the state government’s authority to appoint managers for motor parks.

The latest exchange has further intensified the political and transport-sector dispute, with Accord calling for security intervention and the APC insisting that it has no role in the NURTW leadership crisis. Neither side’s allegations about the other’s involvement in any planned violent takeover have been independently established.
