Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo Unveils Christian Matchmaking Platform With N700,000 VIP Membership

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, founder of David’s Christian Centre and a prominent relationship coach, has launched a Christian matchmaking platform offering membership packages that cost as much as N700,000 annually.

The platform, Mentor To Marry, is designed to help Christian singles build intentional, faith-based relationships with the aim of finding suitable marriage partners. Its launch, however, has sparked debate online over the cost of accessing the service.

Okonkwo announced the platform on X while also expressing concern about what he described as the growing commercialisation of relationships. He argued that financial expectations have made dating increasingly difficult for some young men.

“When we were young all you had to get was a girl’s phone number, but now all they want to send is their account number,” Okonkwo wrote, adding that men are increasingly expected to cover expenses such as rent, school fees and transportation in relationships.

He said Mentor To Marry was created to connect serious, godly and properly mentored singles from different parts of the world. Okonkwo also stressed that the platform was not based on the assumption that all women approach relationships for financial gain.

“I can assure you that not all women are in relationships for business. There are a lot of good women looking to connect with serious godly men on our platform,” he said.

Unlike conventional dating apps, the platform requires prospective members to complete an eight-week process involving mentoring sessions, personal assessments and guided reflection before gaining access to its matchmaking services. Its guidelines also state that membership does not guarantee that a user will find a partner or get married.

The platform reportedly offers free community access, while paid packages include different membership levels, with the highest reportedly costing N700,000 per year. Rules also prohibit harassment, fraud, catfishing and explicit content.

The pricing has become the main source of controversy, with critics questioning how a service intended to help Christian singles find marriage partners can be affordable when its premium membership costs hundreds of thousands of naira. Some social media users accused Okonkwo of contradicting his criticism of the commercialisation of relationships, while others defended the need for structured and mentored matchmaking.

The debate has opened a wider conversation about faith-based matchmaking, the cost of modern dating and whether paying for access to a carefully screened relationship community can genuinely improve the chances of finding a suitable marriage partner.
