Reality TV star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in the celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on October 1, 2026.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, knocked out actress Nkechi Blessing in their scheduled four-round contest, becoming the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
The former Big Brother Naija winner collected ₦50 million for her victory and said she was interested in pursuing a professional boxing career after her impressive debut.
Speaking after the bout, Phyna immediately named Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia as her next potential opponent, accusing her of repeatedly disturbing her through direct messages.
“I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson,” Phyna said.
Etinosa, who watched the fight from ringside, accepted the challenge without hesitation. “I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully,” she said.
In the second celebrity contest, Carter Efe defeated musician Speed Darlington by technical knockout after dominating their scheduled four-round bout. The victory extended Efe’s unbeaten record in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
Efe had previously defeated singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus on May 1, 2026, at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island. He won that three-round contest by unanimous decision after all three judges scored it 30-27 in his favour.
The rivalry between Efe and Speed Darlington had intensified during the build-up to their October clash, with both entertainers trading confrontational remarks before settling the dispute inside the ring.
In the night’s main event, Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah dethroned Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah to win the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship by unanimous decision.
The event combined celebrity and professional boxing, drawing entertainers and fighters for a night of high-profile contests and championship action. The card was broadcast live on SuperSport and DAZN and powered by Bet9ja.
